Following a few Mitt Romney teases heading into the weekend, a well-rested Romney and wife, Ann, gave a long interview to Chris Wallace that aired Sunday on Fox News, where he talked about the presidential race, his campaign mistakes, President Obama’s failures, and roller coasters.

It’s worth watching in full, but here are a few highlights:

Ann Romney is disappointed not for her husband or herself, but for … America. “Our lives are going to be fine. It’s for the country.” (Remember: She has two Cadillacs.)

Mitt, who’s often criticized for being too robotic, was saddened for the enthusiastic people on his campaign: “It was hard. There was such passion in the people working for us.” No word on his lack of passion.

Still, he’s happy to attack Obama for his leadership failures with the sequester:

“Nero is fiddling,” Romney said, likening the president to the infamous Roman emperor who played his fiddle as Rome burned.

“No one can think” that the fight over the sequester “has been a success for the president,” Romney argued. “He didn’t think the sequester would happen. It is happening, but to date, what we’ve seen is the president out campaigning to the American people, doing rallies around the country, flying around the country, and berating Republicans.” [CBS]

Romney, however, doesn’t seem too bummed out about not being the center of attention. He told Wallace:

Well, it’s different. But it’s like, you know, riding on a roller coaster. We were on a roller coaster, exciting and thrilling, ups and downs. But the ride ends. And then you get off. And it’s not like, oh, can’t we be on a roller coaster the rest of our life? It’s like, no, the ride’s over.
