Fans Go to Great Lengths to Show Support For the Bruins
Boston is home to some of the most intense and supportive sports fans. And it shows.
As Malden resident Dominic Roberto said at the start of June, when tickets to the Stanley Cup Finals went on sale at the TD Garden, Boston is small, and sports are everything. “We are close knit—we hold our sports true to us, and that’s why we have so much pride. It’s what we do,” he said, camping out in front of the doors leading to the ticket booth, where he planned on paying hundreds of dollars for a ticket and a chance to see the Bruins battle it out on the ice against the Blackhawks.
This series between Chicago and Boston has been nail-biting to say the least, with some of the showdowns going into triple-over time, forcing Bruins backers to sacrifice some sleep in order to see the outcome of the game. But through it all, Boston fans have stuck by their team, doing what they can—whether through a game-day ritual, or photoshopped memorial—to help show support.
Below is a list of some of the things city residents and superfans have done for the Bruins during the Stanley Cup Finals over the last few weeks:
They shaved their hair into patterns to look like the Bruins logo:
