Couples Plan On Getting Married At the Sam Adams Brewery

While most people bring beer to their wedding, some couples are bringing their wedding to the beer.

On Wednesday, June 26, for the second year in a row, beer-makers at the Samuel Adams Brewery will release their limited edition “Brewlywed” ale at their Boston headquarters.

The exclusive beverage, created to celebrate the tradition of tying the knot, will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. But a handful of potential newlyweds are planning to show up for the event, and will likely get priority service—that’s because at least nine couples will say their vows at the Samuel Adam’s brewery hop garden.

Last year, three couples said “I do” at the Brewlywed unveiling and tasting, and the beer company’s founder, Jim Koch, even served as the best man. “Brewlywed Ale… was brewed to be shared during special moments like these. It’s fun to see more and more brides and grooms incorporating craft beer into their big day,” Koch said in a statement.

Like last year, a Justice of the Peace will be in attendance so that those interested in holding their special day in the presence of an exclusive beer at a once-yearly gathering can do so—but couples have to bring a wedding license.

According to the company:

Just 300 cases of this specialty beer have been brewed for the big day, so individuals or couples who are recently engaged, married or celebrating an anniversary – or anyone looking for a unique, beyond-the-registry gift – can line up for the chance to get their hands on a bottle or case.

Those interested are encouraged to hop to the front of the line, and show up on site around 7 a.m. The first 50 people in line have the opportunity to purchase a bottle signed by Koch. The first 20 to arrive in bridal attire will be moved to the front of the line.

The Brewlywed Ale is just one of the beers crafted by the company that is steeped in deep tradition when it comes to couples getting married. Koch brewed the first batch of Samuel Adams Noble Pils for his daughter’s wedding day and Brewer Bob Cannon brewed what was later deemed the Samuel Adams Irish Red beer for his own wedding.

Besides the handful of couples that are expected to get married at Wednesday’s event, there will also be live music and give-aways, as well as local wedding vendors for those who prefer a traditional wedding where Koch doesn’t stand-by as the best man.
