There’s Good News for Sad, Scooter-Bound Rob Gronkowski

Gronk may be ready to play at the start of next season.

Monday’s headlines focused most on the visual tragedy that was an Instagram photo of Rob Gronkowski posing with young fans in a supermarket while stuck in a scooter. Thankfully, Tuesday’s Gronk news is slightly cheerier.

The Boston Globe reports that Gronk needed to wait for the swelling to subside before he could undergo knee surgery to repair his torn ACL and MCL, but that a procedure has been scheduled for two weeks from now. Meanwhile, a few sources, including the Boston Herald and NFL.com, suggest that Gronk was told his surgery date should put him back into fighting shape in time for the start of next season. Given we just got done with this “when will Gronk be back?” game, it’s sad to be playing it again so soon. But at least it might not stretch into next fall’s games. Cue the triumphant comeback infomercial.

Maybe that’s why, in today’s popular Instagram footage of Gronk, he looks cheery, even if he’s still wheelchair bound.
