FX President, Boston University Grad Will Give Inside Look at The Simpsons App

#EverySimpsonsEver.

Update:

The event has been postponed until further notice. We will update this post when a new date is scheduled for the event.

Earlier:

At the end of the summer, fans of the long-running series The Simpsons had the luxury of watching every single episode ever created when the new FXX cable station ran consecutive seasons back-to-back over the course of a few weeks. And soon, they will be able to relive that experience by simply tapping into their smartphones.

On November 6, Boston University College of Communications alumnus and FX Networks President Chuck Saftler will venture back to his old stomping grounds to take people through a new app called “Simpsons World,” and give attendees the inside scoop about the highly anticipated mobile project, and how it came to be.

The app, set to launch this month, will let users search through all 522 episodes—or 25 seasons—of the award-winning comedy series, and easily locate their favorites. People will be able to stream and view their preferred seasons—provided they have a cable package to verify their account—on any mobile platform, and take a Google-like approach at precisely pinpointing quotes and clips, which can then be shared via social media.

According to HitFix.com, the app will also feature “an exhaustive episode guide that can be opened up to run parallel to the episode, featuring historical references, behind-the-scenes info, and quotes.” Users will also be able to search episodes by character.

Saftler, who was appointed as a network executive last year, will likely go into great detail about the app and its functionalities, and how it transcends the typical cable experience, dovetailing the viral success of The Simpsons marathon launched on the FXX network during the summer.
