The list of international airlines offering nonstop flights out of Boston continues to grow.

An airline you’ve almost certainly never heard of, Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, is adding two additional nonstop flights to Oslo and Copenhagen from Boston in May 2016. By then, if all goes well, the airline will also offer nonstop service to the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, and London, making it by one definition the largest international carrier at Logan.

The airline will charge fares of $229 one-way to Copenhagen when service begins in May.The cheapest one-way Bost0n-Copenhagen fare currently listed on digital travel sites is roughly $350.

Norwegian Air is one of the larger low-cost air carriers in Europe and will join Iceland’s WOW at Logan when it begins operations this winter. The airline is currently the tenth largest airline in Europe but the third largest low-cost carrier, just behind RyanAir and easyJet. Don’t let the Norwegian Air name fool you though, the company operates primarily through an Irish subsidiary that allows it access to the Open Skies treaty and the European Union.

The young airline has grown rapidly with the help of its young fleet and its controversial approach to international labor laws, something that’s drawn the ire of Department of Transportation, legacy carriers, and, in particular, labor unions.

Norwegian Air’s move into Logan is the latest in a recent expansion by international carriers. In the last three years Logan has added nonstop service to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Beijing and Dubai. In June, JetBlue announced the launch of new nonstop service between Boston and Haiti and AeroMexico began their nonstop service to Mexico City.

Boston Mayor Marty  Walsh has been talking to officials at MassPort and in Belfast about adding nonstop service to the Northern Ireland capital in 2016.

Logan Airport currently offers nonstop service to over 46 international locations around the world.
