A Springfield man was arrested at the Extravaganja festival in Northampton after he allegedly threatened to cut a man before robbing him of his wallet and other belongings while in line for hot dogs.

Elvis Malave, 27, was charged with armed robbery, and was the only person arrested at the cannabis legalization rally, MassLive reports.

The alleged victim told police that he was waiting in line for a hot dog in the Northampton Fairgrounds food court area when Malave and several others approached him demanding money and threatening to cut him. The man said Malave ripped three gold chains off his neck, causing his shirt to tear.

While Malave never showed his weapon, police say they later found a razor on him, along with $1,500 in cash and jewelry believed to have been taken from the alleged victim. Malave is scheduled to be arraigned in Northampton District Court on Monday, MassLive reports.

The 2016 Extravaganja festival, organized by the UMass Cannabis Reform Coalition, was held in Northampton for the first time this year, with record crowds of 12,000 reported.
