Provincetown Wants to Set the World Record for Largest Lesbian Wedding

More than 100 lesbian couples plan to tie the knot or renew their vows next month in Provincetown, a feat that would set a Guinness World Record.
The historic “Bride Pride” nuptials will be happening Oct. 15 at a bed and breakfast called called Roux and will coincide with the annual Women’s Week Festival. Couples who want to participate in an official marriage will have to register by Thursday of this week, and obtain a marriage license in the state. Couples renewing their vows are free to register right up until the day of the wedding.
“You’ll find yourself in the company of hundreds of women simultaneously declaring their never-ending love for each other beneath stunningly surreal October skies,” reads an event description.
You’ll also earn a coveted spot in the record books. A search of the Guinness archives did not turn up a current record for largest lesbian wedding, but organizers say they need 100 couples to earn the designation.
Officiating will be the comedian and activist Kate Clinton.
“Nothing says World’s Largest Lesbian Wedding like Provincetown and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” Clinton tells TheNextFamily.com.
Massachusetts became the first state with legal same-sex marriages in 2004.
