Tom Brady made his presence known Sunday, punctuating his return from a four-game Deflategate suspension with a 33-13 rout of the hapless Cleveland Browns on the road. The Patriots quarterback threw for just over 400 yards and three touchdowns, yet still told reporters after the game he was a bit rusty.

In his weekly appearance on WEEI’s Kirk & Callahan, Brady said he’s been able to avoid the kind of hits that have made quick work of the careers of other QBs. In fact, Brady prepared for his Week 5 performance by simulating the sort of hits he would be receiving upon his return to NFL play, since he was unable to practice with the team prior to the start of the season.

“I feel better at 39 than I did at 29,” he said.

Whether it’s the vehemently anti-nightshade diet, or whatever remedy his personal trainer Alex Guerrero is cooking up as of late, Brady looked like just might play until he’s 59.
