About

German International School Boston (GISB) is a bilingual independent school serving students from age 3 to grade 12. At GISB, children develop native-level proficiency in German and English and receive an advanced math and science education as they grow from curious explorers into independent learners.

GISB graduates earn a high school diploma and the German International Abitur. Currently, half of our graduates continue their studies in Europe, while half remain in the United States.

Our international focus, urban location, commitment to affordability, dynamic after school program, and engaged family community make GISB a special place to learn and grow. Let us partner with you and your child to teach the skills and habits that confident, compassionate, creative global citizens need.

Visit an Open House to see what makes our approach to bilingual education unique.

Teaching Philosophy

Thanks to rigorous accreditation by the German government and our location in the heart of Boston, GISB balances the strengths of US progressive education and Germany's democratic public schools. Teachers partner with students and their families to nurture open-ended and critical thinking and a life-long love of learning. Small class sizes and multi-grade classrooms allow teachers to tailor material to students' unique strengths and needs. Your child will teach and learn from others, play outside, and practice cross-cultural communication every day.
