Young and Modern
Ridley Howard, a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, plays with color and geometry to create stunning portraits, landscapes, and abstractions. In his MFA exhibit “Fields and Stripes,” the artist combines pop-culture images with the classical Italian styles he studied while abroad.

Rising Stars
This summer, the ICA showcases the work of this year’s four Foster Prize finalists: Sarah Bapst, Katarina Burin, Mark Cooper, and Luther Price (whose work is pictured above). One winner will receive the $25,000 prize, awarded every two years to a local artist.

Yuri Kobayashi
Wood World
With “Furniture with Soul II,” Gallery Naga continues its celebration of all things wood. The new exhibition will showcase the elegant work of contemporary furniture-makers and artists, including Daniel Lacey, Yuri Kobayashi (whose work is pictured above), and Tom Loeser.

Elise Wagner (Celestial Cartography 1)
Cosmic Flair
Portland, Oregon–based artist Elise Wagner is considered one of the country’s top encaustic painters. Working with molten beeswax, dry pigments, natural resins, and paint, she creates beautiful, dreamlike imagery heavily influenced by natural phenomena.
