Well Woven

Pucker Gallery showcases Monika Correa’s textile art, imported from her home in Mumbai, at its new “Echoes in Fiber” exhibition. The artist creates optical illusions in her intricate work—also on display at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi—by removing the reed at certain points in the weaving process, allowing the warp threads to move freely within her otherwise tightly constructed pieces.

Food for Thought

Layered in nearly a dozen handmade glazes and slips, Somerville artist Angela Cunningham’s soft, curving porcelain ceramics are inspired by nature’s many forms—fruits, vegetables, flowers. At her Vessels Gallery exhibition this summer, “Succulent,” she reveals how closely these organic shapes mirror the human body.
