A Solar-Powered Studio Apartment in Jamaica Plain
Ken Ward and Andrée Zaleska purchased a crumbling house at the corner of Catherine and Bourne Streets in Jamaica Plain in 2008 with the goal of creating a demonstration home for an energy efficient urban life. Now transformed into an inspiring zero-carbon home and community garden, the JP Green House was awarded the mayor’s Green Residential Award by Mayor Menino in 2011.
The first floor garden apartment studio is complete with a kitchen and bath, and it sleeps three. The bright interiors are fully furnished with natural, minimalist-inspired design. It has a private entrance and access to a shared patio and garden.
The garden apartment is available for rent for $150-$175 per night. For information, visit vrbo.com.
