In our March real estate-themed issue, Boston tackles a recurring question: Can you still afford to live here?

We examined neighborhood prices, the city’s abundance of luxury towers, and creative ways people are surviving the housing boom. But now it’s time to talk about it.

To kick off Boston Design Week, the city’s 12-day design festival, we’re hosting a panel discussion to talk about city living. Boston Home editor Rachel Slade has selected a group of home experts to make up the panel. They’ll debate the merits of “smarter vs. bigger” living in Boston. Writer (and recent home buyer) Kara Baskin will join the panel along with Ricardo Rodriguez, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker; Steven Adamo, Santander’s executive vice president and head of home lending; and Sarah Lawson, a project manager at S+H Construction.

The panel will discuss what the March issue explored—with topics ranging from gentrification to affordability. In addition to talking points and questions introduced by Slade, audience members will also have the chance to ask the experts their own burning questions.

Skyrocketing home values are troubling. Join us at the Design Center later this month to talk it out.

Smarter vs. Bigger, Wednesday, March 30, 6-8 p.m., Galley West at the Boston Design Center, 1 Design Center Place, Boston, RSVP by March 25.
