Living in a handsome, historic home is perhaps the New Englander’s ultimate dream. So for the competitive antique house hunters out there, we present the oldest home for sale in Massachusetts—an exceptionally quaint 1,800-square-foot cottage on Cape Cod. This week, data and research startup NeighborhoodX compiled a list of the oldest homes for sale in the state. Topping this list is 17 Grove St., built in 1639.

The classic cape in Sandwich Village is situated on Shawme Pond, and has its own private dock. The home has been carefully preserved and maintained, boasting original beamed ceilings, fireplaces, and finishes. If this historic home doesn’t fit the bill, several other of the oldest homes in Massachusetts are on the market nearby in Sandwich and Barnstable. You can see the complete list here.
