XV Beacon is no stranger to winning awards.
The luxury lodging on Beacon Street claims best hotel titles from Condé Nast Traveler, USA Today, Fodor’s, and even this very magazine. So it’s no surprise that in the newly released World’s Best Awards from Travel + Leisure, XV Beacon was listed as the second best hotel in the continental United States.
“The best hotels in American cities are those that introduce you to your destination the moment you drop your bags,” reads Travel + Leisure. “…on a frosty Boston night, where else would you want to bed down than at the XV Beacon, where every one if its 63 rooms is outfitted with cashmere throws and a gas fireplace?”
The local boutique hotel was beat out only by the Spectator Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina—the place that was given an award for the best city in the world by Travel + Leisure this year.
The magazine asked readers to rate hotels according to rooms and facilities, location, service, food and drink, and overall value. Respondents could choose from ratings of excellent, above average, below average, or poor in each category, and then, the averages were calculated to determine a hotel’s final score. XV Beacon clocked in at 96.27 out of 100.
XV Beacon was the only hotel representing New England on the list, topping notable spots like the Langham in Chicago and Greenwich Hotel in New York City. This is proof that Boston can have nice things.
