Hyde Park is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in the city. The quasi-suburb where the late Mayor Menino grew up is half as cheap as Jamaica Plain, which make house hunting there all the more exciting.
For bargain seekers, real estate analytics firm NeighborhoodX has identified the 10 cheapest properties for sale in Hyde Park. While looking at affordability in major U.S. cities, NeighborhoodX has been pinpointing the most affordable market-rate properties in Boston’s neighborhoods. The recent Hyde Park analysis excluded short sales, foreclosures, and income-restricted properties.
The new list of affordable homes is encouraging. Prices range from $124,900 to $389,000, with $344,000 falling somewhere in the middle. The cheapest is a pretty tiny one-bedroom condo on Clare Avenue. The most expensive is a well-maintained, three-bedroom duplex on Huntington Avenue. On a per-square-foot basis, the asking prices range from $183 per square foot to $318 per square foot.
