These Are the Cheapest Homes in Chelsea
Your hunt for a stylish (yet affordable) loft is over. A new list of the cheapest homes for sale in Chelsea proves there are greener pastures—and no shortages of exposed brick—over the Tobin.
Real estate analytics firm NeighborhoodX examined properties in Chelsea to identify the ten most affordable homes for sale. The result is a list that ranges from airy one-bedroom lofts to more traditional two- and three-bedroom condos and single-family homes.
Among the most affordable properties on the market in Chelsea, a tiny two-bedroom on Crescent Avenue turned up as the least expensive of all. At $199,900, the place offers just 689 square feet plus a parking space. At the opposite end of the list is a striking corner unit in the Spencer Lofts. The brick-and-beam home at 60 Dudley Street is priced at $389,000 and asks $346 per square foot.
“Properties like 60 Dudley St. and 157 Winnisimmet St. evoke a tremendous sense of place,” says Constantine Valhouli, cofounder of NeighborhoodX. “These are the kind of conversions that have respected historic details and which will be catalysts for showcasing the architectural heritage that will draw more residents to Chelsea.”
Overall, the homes range from $221 to $481 per square foot. For comparison, Chelsea’s higher-end prices on the list are just a little more than the average prices in neighborhoods like Brighton and Jamaica Plain, which averaged at $451 per square foot in February.
