Here’s What It Costs to Buy in Roslindale

Where beautiful (and moderately affordable) condos and single-family homes abound.

Put simply, Roslindale is a gold mine of beautiful homes. Impressive (and moderately affordable) condos and single-family houses abound in the neighborhood—that is, until they’re snapped up in the blink of an eye.

It’s no surprise houses in Rozzie are popular. On average, they command just $367 per square foot, which is considerably cheaper than Allston, Brighton, South Boston, and even East Boston. Thanks to a new report from real estate analytics firm NeighborhoodX, we can take a look at Roslindale’s price breakdown in detail.

While the average asking price hovers between $300 and $400 per square foot, individual properties in Roslindale range from $233 to $590 per square foot. The home with the least expensive price per square foot is a condo in a jaw-dropping antique building. The most expensive listing is a smaller two-bedroom condo near the Commuter Rail.

“For context, Roslindale is priced comparably to Dorchester,” explains Constantine Valhouli, cofounder of NeighborhoodX.

Dorchester averages at $335 per square foot, and much like Rozzie, tops out at $595 per square foot. Roslindale, however, is still more expensive than Roxbury, Hyde Park, and Mattapan.
