The “Evol” Cocktail Table from Roche Bobois

It may appear to float, but this contemporary table will hold your cocktail, promise. Dreamed up by the late French designer Cédric Ragot for Roche Bobois, the striking piece consists of a glass top resting on a series of intersecting steel bands that seem to be suspended in air. “He found inspiration from a series of photographs showing a hoop falling to the ground,” says Paula Pomponio, manager at Roche Bobois. But it was more than just movement that intrigued Ragot, who founded his own studio only years after graduating from the famous Paris design school ENSCI-Les Ateliers: Through this work, the artist hoped to mimic the perpetual movement of time. Choose from a variety of metals and glass finishes—just one more thing to ponder while you’re sipping a Manhattan and contemplating the circle of life.
