These Are the Cheapest Homes for Sale in the South End
It wasn’t that long ago when buying a home in the South End seemed like an attainable goal. Nowadays, you’d have to fork over almost a half a million dollars to buy a 532-square-foot condo there.
Real estate analytics firm NeighborhoodX examined properties across the South End to identify the ten most affordable homes for sale. The result is a list that ranges from tiny one-bedroom condos to slightly larger one-bedroom condos. They all ask between $470,000 and $745,000.
The majority of the homes are pretty small—they range from 495 to 830 square feet—and command between $818 and $1,297 per square foot. The analysis focuses on market-rate properties, so it excludes foreclosures and short sales, as well as income-restricted and artist-restricted properties.
The cheapest condo of all is the aforementioned 532-square-foot pad. Situated at the corner of Washington Street and Massachusetts Avenue, the second-floor unit has hardwood floors, a newly outfitted kitchen, and a fireplace. It’s certainly small, but it does offer access to a common roof deck.
The most expensive home on the list, a $745,000 home in the Ink Block development, is a sparkling luxury condo with fancy finishes and amenities. Interested in a chunk of the South End to call your own? Check out the complete chart below.
