Decades after Kenzo Takada first rocked Parisian runways with his bold prints and oversize silhouettes, the 78-year-old fashion icon is designing again, and this time not just for your closet. He’s teamed up with famed French furniture house Roche Bobois on a collection of home furnishings inspired by traditional Japanese kimono patterns and theater costumes, including a modern reimagining of the iconic “Mah Jong” sofa, as well as rugs and ceramics such as these distinctive urns. “When he started the collaboration, Kenzo wanted to create harmony between all of the pieces, so he applied some of the pattern that you find on the sofa on the urns, which are quite voluminous,” says Jonathan Bouchet, Takada’s chargé d’affaires. In other words: It might be time to redecorate your living room.
