The Crane Estate’s Roaring Twenties Cocktail Party Is Back

It's an indoor version of the property's famed lawn party.

If you packed away your finest flapper attire after this year’s Roaring Twenties Lawn Party at the Crane Estate, you’ll want to dig it out soon. The Crane Estate at Castle Hill’s Roaring Twenties Cocktail Party is back this year on December 2, and vintage clothing is strongly encouraged.

The cocktail party can be likened to an indoor version of the property’s famed lawn party—it will have dancing, dazzling decor, live jazz, and all the retro vibes you could ever hope for. The only difference is that instead of unfolding on the Crane Estate’s sprawling grounds, the wintertime ’20s-themed party will take place inside the Great House: a grand, 59-room, Stuart-style mansion.

Party attendees will be free to tour the historic home—not only is the Great House chock full of antiques and period furnishings, but its halls will be decked for the holidays. In the ballroom, the Back Bay Ramblers will play jazzy tunes to dance to, and a bar will serve up vintage cocktails. Hot hors d’oeuvres will be making the rounds, too.

There will be a few other chances to see the Great House’s holiday decor if you can’t make it to the cocktail party. On Friday December 1, Saturday, December 2, and Sunday December 3, the Crane Estate is hosting “Christmas at Castle Hill: The Season of Carols.” Each room in the 1928 mansion will be festively decorated in the theme of a Christmas carol, and visitors can enjoy music, dancing, a treasure hunt, plus baked goods and cider.

Roaring Twenties Holiday Cocktail Party tickets are $76 for Trustees of Reservations members, $95 for non-members, Saturday, December 2, 6-10 p.m., Castle Hill on the Crane Estate, 290 Argilla Rd., Ipswich, thetrustees.org.
