Local designers, take note: Gone are the days of walls covered in paint samples and floors littered with rug swatches. British paint manufacturer Farrow & Ball is taking the guesswork out of choosing the perfect wall-color-and-rug combination, teaming up with fellow British retailer the Rug Company on a new collection of rugs that perfectly complements the Farrow & Ball color palette.

“The collaboration came about organically, over the course of almost five years and a long-time friendship between our two heritage brands,” says Charlotte Cosby, head of creative at Farrow & Ball. “Like Farrow & Ball, the Rug Company is passionate about color, craftsmanship and quality… We are so pleased to now have the ability to extend our influence into another essential element of the home.”

Locally available at the Rug Company’s Newbury Street outpost in Boston, the rugs—hand-loomed in 12 colorways—can be custom ordered. The company also offers home-approval services, so you can try the rugs in your space before purchasing. And as for paint? You’ll find it inside the Farrow & Ball showroom, located at the Boston Design Center. “Easy neutrals are currently trending, and we are creating schemes using Farrow & Ball’s ‘Ammonite’ and ‘Cornforth White’ with bolder colors like ‘Inchyra Blue,’” says showroom manager Tammy Couture. “These color combinations work wonderfully with the Rug Company’s ‘Order Grey,’ and—for the adventurous client—’Melrose Yellow.’”

Here are some of our favorite color combinations:
