If you wanted to live like a Red Sox player, you might try painting your living room Green Monster green, for example. But to really live like a Sox player, you could just move into number 13’s South Florida home.
Hanley Ramirez is selling his eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom palace in Weston, Florida. The mansion, which is about 30 minutes outside of Fort Lauderdale, is on the market for $3.99 million. It’s tucked inside a gated community called Windmill Reserve and abuts a nature preserve.
Built in 2007, the Spanish Santa Barbara-style home sits on a one-acre lot with a pretty dreamy-looking pool, a hot tub, and a gazebo. Inside, the more than 11,000-square-foot house offers plenty of space for entertaining, including a huge kitchen with a barrel ceiling, a spacious formal dining room, a poker room, and a home theater. One wing of the house is dedicated to the master bedroom, which comes with a snazzy walk-in closet. There’s also a separate suite for guests, as well as a gym, a home office, and a billiard room.
“Ramirez purchased the home while playing for the Miami Marlins and has owned it for ten years now,” said listing agent Giselle Bonetti in a statement. “He’s enjoyed the sprawling estate and its surrounding privacy, but has decided to relocate.”
In a press release, Ramirez said his children enjoyed the home, its privacy, and Weston’s “amazing A+ schools.” But as they got older, “they wanted to explore other activities which led us to relocate,” he said. (Perhaps Ramirez is eyeing the A+ schools and activities of Massachusetts?)
His Florida home is listed with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate. Peep more photos below and see the listing at coldwellbankerhomes.com.
