Any cottage on a body of water called Furnace Pond is bound to be warm and cozy, right? That’s the goal, at least, for this fixer-upper on the market in Pembroke. The little stone abode, which is steps from the waterfront, needs quite a bit of work before it’s transformed into a ultra-snug lake house. But it teems with potential.

Just look at the wood stove in the living room and the warm wood paneling on the second floor. The fixtures for a rustic-chic cabin are there, they just need to be picked up and brushed off. Renovating will be no easy feat, of course. Some rooms are far from complete, while others could stand to be ripped apart and redone. The property’s detached two-car garage (and its second-story loft) need a complete overhaul, too.

There’s a lot to love about this Pembroke project, from its abundant living space to its proximity to the Atlantic. It’s surprisingly spacious at 1,546 square feet. And the under $200,000 price tag isn’t so bad, either.
