As June approaches, it means one thing for Boston’s LGBTQ+ community: Pride Month. This year marks an especially meaningful anniversary, with the Stonewall Riots having taken place 50 years ago. To commemorate the event that galvanized the gay rights movement, cities across the country are pulling out all the stops. Boston boasts a full calendar of festivities, from movie screenings to a silent disco, while New York plans to host the world’s largest Pride celebration.

But according to travel search site Orbitz, the most sought-after destination for U.S. Pride-goers this year is a beloved coastal oasis right here in Massachusetts: Provincetown. Based on flight searches and hotel bookings in known Pride-friendly cities, the online travel company ranked P-town at number one, just above St. Petersburg, Atlanta, Long Beach, and New York City.

The Cape Cod community is typically home to a population of less than 3,000, but from May 31-June 2 this year, that number will swell exponentially when Provincetown hosts its Pride weekend. This year’s celebration will kick off with an “official pride ferry” departing Boston on May 31, leading into three days of activities including yoga, a dance party, and the unveiling of “Global Rainbow,” an art installation made up of multi-colored lasers that will form a glowing arc visible from 20 miles away. If you’re among those looking to celebrate Pride in P-town, check out these potential Airbnb home bases below, all currently available during the last weekend of May.
