Boston Is Getting Two New Showrooms Featuring Italian-Made Furniture
Studio Verticale opened New England’s first Baxter location earlier this month, and next week, Casa Design Group will open Giorgetti in the South End.
Ready to revamp your space? There’s truly no time like the present, because two new showrooms for Italian-made furniture and home accessories are landing in Boston. On May 1, Studio Verticale, a furniture retailer near South Station, opened the first New England location for luxury brand Baxter. Next up: SoWa retailer Casa Design Group is opening its fifth boutique, bringing Giorgetti’s contemporary wood pieces to the city.
When Studio Verticale’s owner Mila Talibov first saw pieces by the Italian atelier at a Milan trade show several years ago, she knew she had to make the Italian brand available to Bostonians. Now the location, which opened within Studio Verticale’s own space downtown, is New England’s first and only Baxter broker. Created by the Baxter design team, the 1,500-square-foot showroom-within-a-showroom features five zones anchored by Baxter’s famous leather upholstered furniture, plus complementary pieces such as coffee tables, accessories, and lighting. “There’s a lot of punch in every single vignette [because] all of [Baxter’s] furniture pieces are so distinct and have so much character,” Talibov says.
While Baxter works magic with leather upholstery, Giorgetti’s skill lies in creating innovative forms out of solid wood. In partnership with Casa Design Group, the Italian furniture brand is opening its second location in the U.S. The more-than-a-century-old company’s new location will feature some of Giorgetti’s most iconic pieces by architects Massimo Scolari, Chi Wing Lo, Carlo Colombo, and other famed designers. It will also offer contemporary furniture, rugs, and accessories from Giorgetti’s own Atmosphere collection, such as the ultra-cozy “Hug” armchair, with its curved Canaletto walnut arms. The 1,700-square-foot space opens May 28.
