Fixer-Upper Friday: An Adorable Ranch in Lynn
This green and yellow home matches perfectly with its one car garage.
43 B St., Lynn
Size:1,024 square feet
From the outside, this home needs no fixer-upping. Pale yellow shutters and scalloped trim are a pleasant complement to the green single-story, and the neighboring one-car garage is its miniature doppelgänger. A spacious green lawn, sturdy back deck, and a lovely rock wall are also all ready to enjoy.
The home’s interior, though, could use a handful of aesthetic updates. Wall-to-wall crimson carpeting in the living room and navy blue in the bedrooms have seen better days—strip it up and lay down some hardwood for a more modern look. The kitchen could enjoy a similar makeover, replacing the blue tiles with some light pine planks, installing new appliances, and subbing in some quartz counters.
Old-fashioned wallpaper borders give several of the rooms an outdated appearance; a quick coat of paint could brighten them up and bring them up to date.
There are some charming elements that we’d recommend keeping around. The kitchen cabinetry is in mint shape, and a scalloped valance over the kitchen sink is a cute reference to the home’s frilly facade. Plus, the pink bathtub, wood-burning fireplace, and tree-lined street are must-keep perks.
