Chestnut Hill Is Getting the Region’s First Serena & Lily Store
Snag the California-based home retailer’s coastal-inspired wares this fall.
The Boston area is about to get a fresh dose of easy, breezy California style thanks to a new Serena & Lily store, set to open in the Chestnut Hill Square shopping center in September. The 4,200-square-foot space will feature the Sausalito-based home brand’s collections of coastal-inspired bedding, indoor and outdoor furniture, wallpaper, décor, and more, all of which Allyson McGrath, Serena & Lily’s vice president of design shops, says the company has been hoping to bring to the area for a long time. “[The Boston market] is totally in sync with our brand, being on the New England coast and having so many special homes in and around the city as well as down to the Cape and islands,” she explains.
Customers will be welcomed into the shop, which features a bright white façade and black steel window encasements, with soaring ceilings and abundant natural light. The store’s interior will blend east coast polish with Serena & Lily’s trademark west coast flair in the form of brass, shiplap, and driftwood accents, as well as artwork by local artists, including Maine-based painters Laurie Fisher and Sarah Madeira Day and Nantucket photographer Lauren Marttila. “It’s really about the discovery of our brand as you walk through the space,” McGrath says. The new location will also feature a full-sized playhouse furnished and decorated with nursery and children’s items, in addition to a sprawling swatch wall with more than 300 original textiles. Like the brand’s 10 other shops, the new location will offer free design services too, courtesy of in-store consultants who can offer advice, swatches, and mood boards by walk-in or appointment, as well as during an in-home consultation. “We have the prowess and ability to design a space from scratch,” McGrath says.
