Let this real estate agent know you found them on Boston magazine’s Find It Boston.

This is my business. I'd like to submit an update.

Craig Lake is renowned in Greater Boston as one of the most business savvy agents in the real estate industry. In less than 9 years on the scene, she has garnered over $200 million in sales, earning herself a spot as a Top 20 Boston real estate agent. She has averaged $35+ million per year in sales over the past 6 years.

Her successful endeavors led her to be a founding board member of the Top Agent Network, an exclusive platform providing Boston’s most elite brokers with the newest information on listings prior to their launch on the market and exclusive off market listings.

Craig is an experienced negotiator with exceptionally honed market instincts. She always has her clients' best interests in mind when finding them a home or investment, and her insight and experience allows her to consider future re-sale and appreciation as part of a transaction's value proposition.

Before her outstanding real estate career, Craig was a highly successful Division 1 running coach. She was the first woman to ever be the Director of both the men's and women's running programs in the Ivy League while at Brown University. During her career, Craig and influenced numerous All-Americans, two of which became Olympic runners in the Beijing and London games. While earning her Master’s degree from Columbia University, she coached women’s varsity cross country and track. Under her supervision, the Columbia women garnered their highest finishes in school history. The NYTimes credited Craig “Columbia's ascent from perhaps the weakest team in Division I to a national power is one of the most startling turnarounds in college sports.”

Craig graduated cum laude from Princeton University where she was a highly competitive three sport varsity athlete. Her work ethic and competitive drive are transferable to the real estate world, and are what make you want her on your side in any transaction. She will work tirelessly on your behalf."

What's your background, education and training?

I got my undergraduate degree at Princeton University, and my master's degree at Columbia University. My previous job focused on intense Division I coaching elite athletes in a very competitive environment. My intellectual and athletic background definitely carry over into the real estate world, and make me more effective at negotiating, and making my clients get what they want whether on the sale side or buying side.

What is your typical process for working with a new client?

Client's needs and wishes vary from client to client, so there is not necessarily a "typical process" as I like to tailor each search to each client's wishes. Some clients need assistance with narrowing their search, while others may need help expanding their search. My approach is very individualized and customized to each client.

What advice would you give a client looking to find a provider in your specialty?

Finding a good real estate agent to help you buy or list a home is certainly about finding a good personality fit. It is important to be clear on your expectations. I am very upfront and honest with my clients, extremely available to my clients, an extremely hard worker, and love what I do which shows. I think these are qualities that are extremely valuable for a buyer or seller, and what they should be looking to find in an agent.

What inspired your passion for your profession?

Someone I truly admired and looked up to growing up was my best friend's mom who was the top real estate agent in Bethesda, Maryland (where I grew up). Her daughter followed in her footsteps as well and is a huge success and top agent in her own right. I used to go to open houses for fun, and I love looking at different properties. I also really enjoy the analytics of it all and pouring over comparable properties and sales history. I also love the connections and relationships that I make from the profession as a majority of my clients turn into great friends.

What services are you most excited to offer?

Exceptional negotiating skills. On a buy side - finding my client what they are looking to find while being very transparent along the way with what I think it is a good value and has a potential upswing. I am known to be on the ball and very much in touch with my clients when they need me to be available. I am patient with my clients as well till the find the right fit. On the listing side, I am realistic and straight forward with the listing price, and what it will take to get a property ready to sell. I have set several record price/sq foot sales prices in buildings and homes in the Boston area.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever received from a client?

Someone said that hiring me was one of the best decisions that they had ever made. This was extremely flattering on so many levels, first of which who the client was that had said it as she was a huge success in her own right as a mom and an attorney. Buying and selling real estate is a very personal thing to do. This client was selling a home she had lived in and raised her children in for 25 years. It's an emotional process. I was so happy to help her sell her home and purchase her new home to help her start her next chapter in life! Having her happy in all of this brings me so much pleasure - and to that is what success is - making my clients happy.

What makes your business stand apart?

I believe my athletic and academic background help me stand apart and help me to excel in my business. I also think my work ethic and love of my job help me stand apart.

How many years have you been in business?

I have been in the business almost 9 years now. I started off only doing rentals at first, but that led to people buying, as well as some fantastic referrals. I once had a $3000 rental turn into a $6.7M sale 4 years later. I have done over $200M in sales volume in under 9 short years in the business.

What do clients have to say about you?

"I have bought and sold two different properties with Craig. In each instance, I have gone into negotiations with a certain number or expectation in my head, and each time Craig has exceeded my expectations, coming back with a better deal/larger profit than I could have ever hoped for. Not only is Craig an amazing negotiator, but her insights in the market, her strategies, and her skills are unmatched. Working with Craig has made each and every move that I have made easy, successful, and highly profitable. She is smart. She is shrewd. She is accessible. Craig Lake is truly one of the best, and you would be foolish if you missed the opportunity to work with her."

"I highly recommend Craig. I found Her online & was impressed by her level of achievement & success in everything she has done throughout her life. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Craig listens, takes risks, thinks unconventionally, and is incredibly hard working and driven to make deals happen. She made a stressful process into a great experience with magical results!"

"My husband and I consider ourselves very lucky to have found Craig. We were new to the home-buying process in general and we were very naive to the Boston real estate market. Craig encouraged us to explore the South End as a place to live based on our wants and needs (we didn't know it well before meeting her) and once we fell in love with the area she was masterful in helping us acquire our (dream) condo in an extremely competitive market. She impressed us as uber-knowledgable and super-tenacious while also being professional, ethical, approachable, and very reliable (we have no idea when she eats or sleeps because she was so immediately responsive to us whenever we needed to consult with her). We are quite sure we could not have found ourselves in such an amazing place if not for Craig. We consider her to be a real gem."

Any other information you’d like to provide – Hobbies, etc.

I love to run - especially on trails. I ran a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) in 1:22.20 (6:16/mile pace) as well as the NYC marathon in 3:03.50 (7:00min/mile pace.) which I wasn't thrilled about as I had hoped to break 3 hours. I love to travel and have been to France, England, Spain, Italy, Turkey, India, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Maldives, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Turks & Caicos, and many more. Next trip is to Greece. I've done deals on the plane to the Maldives as well as from India.
