What's your background, education and training?

The Farrell’s real estate careers began in 1993, with John as a sales associate with the former DeWolfe Companies, where Cindy joined him two years later.

John grew up in Northern Minnesota and was initially drawn to Vermont by his interest in competitive cross country skiing, where he attended the Lyndon Nordic Training Center. He earned a BA in American Studies at Lyndon State College, in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Cindy grew up in New York and moved to Vermont, where she met John. She later earned a BS in Political Science from Salem State College, in Salem, MA. Her varied interests of study included communications, negotiation and data analysis.

They continue to prioritize a life of continuing education.

What is your typical process for working with a new client?

We tailor the process to suit the needs of our clients.

What advice would you give a client looking to find a provider in your specialty?

Interview! Seek out agents with a broad range of skills and experiences. Look for people that give you their time and attention, listen to you, and make you feel supported. Work directly with the people you hire. Make sure the team is well structured and runs smoothly. Ask what kind of support the agents have and consider the attributes of the company they associate with.

Look for agents that have and continue to consistently complete many transactions. Experience is gained with each sale.

A strong work ethic is a must. Work with true professionals that manage their business well and have a varied life. They will bring more to the table. They should work well with others, be calm and non-reactive. Look for trust, reputation, ethics, honesty and integrity.

What inspired your passion for your profession?

The opportunity to have a wonderful life filled with meaningful work.

To be able to build a business where we could use and refine our skills, acquire new ones and continue our quest for a life full of educational opportunity, and wide variety of experiences. Being able to look forward to how we spend each day.
