What's the Dish?

Your Chowder hounds have sniffed down the best culinary events in town. Check back every Friday for your weekly prix-fixe of foodie festivals, cooking classes, wine tastings, and more.

Sabor de España
Every Sunday, 5-10 p.m.
Avila

Viva España every Sunday night with a $28 three-course Spanish prix fixe. It includes an appetizer choice of Iberian Serrano ham or Rioja baby octopus, an entree choice of Paella Valencia or braised short rib, and for dessert, Spanish churros.

Oyster Sundays and Lobster Mondays
Every Sunday and Monday Evening: 5-10 p.m.
B&G Oysters

We overdose on lobster rolls and shooters in the summer, so we think it’s funny that seafood is actually at its peak in winter. B&G Oysters is showcasing the two delicacies for a small plates menu on Sunday and Monday evenings throughout the entire winter. Get your fill for only $3-$12 for oyster dishes and $6-$12 for lobster dishes.

Get Snowed In
Anytime the snow falls: Mon.–Thurs., 5:30-10 p.m.; Fri.–Sat., 5-10:30 p.m.
Prezza

On Saturday night (It’s going to snow!) shovel or snowblow your way over to Prezza. They’re offering a Snow Emergency Special any time the flakes fall. If you order a glass of Barolo wine ($15), you’ll receive a complimentary half order of handmade potato gnocchi that’s worth digging the car out for.

Friday Date Night
Every Friday, 5:30-10 p.m.
Summer Winter

Don’t wait until Valentine’s Day to take your hunny out for a fancy dinner. Every Friday night, couples will be feasting on a $35 per person, three-course dinner made with ingredients grown in the restaurant’s on-site greenhouse. The menu changes weekly, and this Friday’s choices include salad with pear, blue cheese, and pecans, roasted chicken breast stuffed with leek mousse, and Hungarian apple pie. Make it a Friday night ritual!

The Big Barrel Bailout
Jan. 15, 6:30 p.m.
UpStairs on the Square

The less money we have, the more we drink, and the more we drink, the less money we have. Learn how to balance your budget and still kick back with a good bottle of booze.
