On Your Mark, Get Set, Sear: Chef Louie Night

By: Alexandra Hall

What’s one part high-impact sporting event to two parts delicious/ridiculous gluttony? That’d be Chef Louie Night — a.k.a. the off-the-grid dining event thrown by Sel de la Terre chef de cuisine Louis DiBiccari alongside a team of fellow chefs. Here’s the lowdown: Guests first buy tickets on the website (cheflouienight.com). Next, they vote for their favorite ingredients on that same site. Finally, on the morning of the event, the winning ingredients are revealed to the Louie crew. The chefs then scurry about like deranged zoo animals, creating in the span of just few hours a killer meal that they’ll serve that evening to hundreds of guests in a temporary dining space. It’s all very Iron Chef meets underground supper club, and the next one is right around the corner — this Sunday, January 30.

So what’s the motif this time around? Nothing less debauched than “Where Your New Year’s Resolutions Go To Die.” And DiBiccari’s chef lineup is equally intriguing: Ben Knack (Hell’s Kitchen Season 7), Jamie Bissonnette (of Toro and Coppa), and Mike Bergin (L’Espalier). Go hungry.

6 p.m. at Petit Robert Central, 10 Arch St., Boston. Tickets are $48, available on cheflouienight.com.
