Table Talk + This Week's Edible Events

As if things weren’t hot enough this past weekend, two of Boston’s chefs made the trek to Las Vegas to compete at All-Star Cochon, a 10 chef national competition to see who can best present the almighty swine. While we’re admittedly a little pigged out on the whole hog thing, knowing local culinary superstars Jamie Bissonnette and Mary Dumont (Harvest) were heating up the casino capital with porcine love (Bissonnette made Thai sausages and Vietnamese bologna porchetta) was almost enough to get us on a flight down there. Yeah, that didn’t happen but we thoroughly enjoyed pumping up the AC and watching our Twitter feed for updates. Sadly, those came few and far between (must have been all that swine) but as far as we can tell, Dumont’s bacon candy made a big impression.

And speaking of hot, our hearty congrats go out to the contingent of Boston’s finest bartenders who have just returned from New Orleans where they muddled their way through a super sticky weekend at Tales of the Cocktail. The team from Eastern Standard nabbed top honors at Friday night’s Bar Room Brawl while Drink took home an award for “Best American Cocktail Bar” beating out contenders from New York and Los Angeles.
