Tidbit: Central Bottle’s Wine Newsletter

Our inboxes are inundated with food-related e-newsletters – some we’ve signed up for, most we have not. And while we usually hit delete after just a glance, every now and then, we get a standout that hits just the right balance: easily digestible, entertaining, and actually filled with the info we want.

Central Bottle’s weekly emails usually arrive right at that moment on Friday afternoon when we’re either ready to wander over to the office kitchen to see what we can pilfer or pinging our friends about their weekend plans. Which makes it an opportune moment to spend ten minutes considering what we’ll be drinking come 5 o’clock, instead.

Authored by the provision shop’s co-owner Liz Vilardi, the newsletter amuses with its clever tone while getting quickly to the point, highlighting a Friday wine pick plus listings for one of their many stellar tasting events and sometimes, a spotlight on a wine or cheese related product. And it’s all delivered with our kind of wit: Summer reds. Oxymoron or just a moron?”

Or, more recently, this:

Dear Porch, I love you, but I don’t want anything serious from you. A drink or two of some good cheap cold wine and a magazine while I unwind. It’s not you, it’s me.

It’s enough to give us a grin along with a great excuse to stop by on our way home from work.
