A Look at The Gallows' New Lunch Menu, Debuting Thursday
South End gastropub The Gallows has long been pleasing locals with their gussied-up takes on bar food classics like jalepeno poppers, potato skins and crab rangoons during the evenings and comforting fare like huevos rancheros and corned beef hash for Sunday brunch. Starting this week though, the spot will get in on the afternoon-dining game thanks to the introduction of a lunch menu on Thursdays and Fridays.
While lunch mostly brings an edited selection of dinnertime offerings (think the burgers, salads, soup), the new menu also marks the debut of two sandwiches: the tuna melt, which features poached tuna, Swiss cheese, hot and spicy pickles and summer squash, and the “Fig and Blue,” which contains blue cheese, roasted figs, heirloom pears and greens. Conspicuously missing is the signature poutine, though we realize that it would be tough to avoid a non-productive afternoon food coma after downing a platter of cheese curd and gravy-smothered fries. General manager Seth Yaffe tells Chowder that while the menu is only available on Thursdays and Fridays for now, it may be offered on a daily basis (in addition to Saturday brunch!) in the next few months.
