What to Expect at Hops N Scotch, Opening in Coolidge Corner Next Week

The new spot will have 40 beers on draft and over 100 selections of whiskey.

As anyone who lives in Coolidge Corner knows, there’s a void when it comes to the dining scene—there’s Coolidge Corner Clubhouse for a pint and a plate of bbq chicken nachos, and Regal Begal for sophisticated cocktails and tuna tartare. But there’s nothing really in between. Hoping to bridge this gap (at long last) is Hops N Scotch, a new restaurant from the owners of nearby Coolidge Corner Wine and Spirits that will be soft-opening next Friday.

It’ll be a haven for beer and whiskey fans, with 40 brews on draft (from the likes of Pretty Things, Blatant, and BBC) and about 120 different types of whiskey available. Food-wise, East by Northeast alum Clinton Cox will be running the kitchen—you won’t find an Asian cuisine, though, as the chef will offer southern-comfort dishes like fried green tomatoes with buttermilk dressing, blackened catfish po’ boys, chorizo-coated Scotch eggs with bourbon-mustard sauce, and fried root beer custard pie (dang).

While many will choose to hang out at the large 15-seat bar, there’s also an expansive upstairs area for those seeking a quieter meal.

An extra bonus? The bar will stay open until 2 a.m. on weekends. For a more in-depth look at the food offerings, see below.
