Hopsters and Bully Boy Distillers are collaborating on a limited-run, small-batch specialty beer that will be available this winter. The barrel-aged Imperial Stout, called Down Boy Stout, is being brewed at their Newton facilities on September 11 with Bully Boy cofounder Will Willis.

Ticketed patrons can take part in the festivities and reserve a case well in advance. Hopsters’ brewers are inviting 20 members of the public to meet Willis, brew, and enjoy an expanded menu of Bully Boy-themed craft cocktails.

After the boil, the brew will sit for 90 days in American oak barrels that once housed Bully Boy’s American Straight Whiskey. As part of the price of admission, brewing session participants will receive twelve 750ml bottles of the exclusive beer to enjoy at home. The remainder of the beer will be kegged and unveiled to the public during a tapping party on December 5, also known as Repeal Day.

$199 per person, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., 292 Centre St., Newton; 617-916-0752, hopsters.net or eventbrite.com.
