Downtown Crossing residents hungrily anticipating the opening of The Painted Burro’s second location at 35 Temple Place (the former Windsor Button location) might be waiting for a very long time. After receiving an anonymous tip about a stoppage in construction, we inquired with Joe Cassinelli of the Alpine Restaurant Group. Although Cassinelli was unavailable for comment, a representative of the restaurant says:

“The group reached an impasse with the landlord of The Painted Burro DTX space and has stopped plans to continue building out that property.”

The representative went on to say that the Alpine Restaurant Group had redirected its focus to the continued build-out of the Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar in Somerville, which opened its doors on September 15. Stay tuned for any new developments.
