On November 5, The Boston Center for Adult Education will continue its culinary series “R & D” (research and development) with former Menton and Puritan & Co. chef Marc Sheehan. The BCAE series invites chefs and restaurateurs opening new restaurants to come test out ideas in an interactive setting.

Sheehan’s highly anticipated new restaurant, Loyal Nine (named after the historic group of Boston artisans and distillers who inspired the Sons of Liberty), is scheduled to open in East Cambridge in early 2015. Over the course of the evening, Sheehan and his team will be serve up dishes like Scituate periwinkles with hard cider and sourdough, a fried clam and pig ear roll, and whole roasted Romanesco with littleneck clams, bartlett pear, and Osetra caviar. Diners will have the opportunity to try all the dishes and provide feedback. Besides the food, Sheehan will also be on-hand to discuss Loyal Nine’s concept, design, and overall experience.

The last “R & D” event sold out within 24 hours, and this one should be no different. Tickets go on sale on October 15, so act fast.

$35 per person, Nov. 5, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., 122 Arlington St., Boston; 617-267-4430 or education.bcae.org.
