Big changes are afoot at chef Tony Maws’ two Boston-area restaurants. The James Beard award-winning chef will first launch a cafe at Kirkland Tap & Trotter starting on Saturday, December 6. Kirkland’s cafe will serve to-go coffee, tea, pastries, and yogurt on weekends from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Maws will is also be expanding Kirkland’s weekend brunch to now run both Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Perhaps the most surprising part of Maws’ announcement though was news of Craigie on Main’s final brunch service on Sunday, December 28. The popular brunch service, which featured Maws’ grass-fed beef burger, named as one of the country’s best by Food & Wine magazine, will be slowly fazed out to make room for an additional dinner service on Monday.
“With the addition of dinner on Monday nights, we made the decision to end Craigie brunch and focus on expanding our awesome brunch service at Kirkland,” Maws said via a press release. “There are a lot of advantages in doing so – it’s only a mile from Craigie, parking is easier, the restaurant is larger, and hey, it’s still food I love to cook and love to eat.”
Craigie’s Monday dinner service will begin on January 5. And brunch enthusiasts can rest easy knowing that Craigie will occasionally reintroduce the breakfast service on select days including Super Hunger Brunch, Easter, Mother’s Day, and New Year’s Day.
