Don’t let the sunny weather fool you, the food service industry is still fighting every day to recover from the barrage of winter storms that swept through Massachusetts in February. That’s why Kevin Long, executive chef and partner at Big Night Entertainment Group (Empire, Red Lantern, GEM), is continuing his successful#DigOutDineOut social media campaign through March 20 (the first day of spring), offering discounts that incentivize people to dine out.

Joining Long is car service, Uber, which has committed over $50,000 in free rides for both guests and restaurant employees.

“#DigOutDineOut was a reaction to local restaurants’ needs after days and days of crippling snow,” says Long via a press release. “This partnership with Uber is a reaction to our guests who have experienced issues safely getting around the city. We want to encourage continued support of local restaurants, while thanking loyal guests for braving tough road conditions and public transportation shortfalls.”

Uber will offer free rides home to guests who take Uber to participating #DigOutDineOut restaurants, and a free round trip for new Uber users to and from a participating restaurant. In addition, restaurant and hospitality employees are invited to supplement lost wages by becoming part-time Uber drivers, an offer that comes with cash incentives as well as Uber credits.
