Today, Oktoberfest comes to Somerville. And whether that harbinger of autumn makes you smile or wince, you can find comfort in a stein of Märzen and a plate of Kartoffelpuffer.

Over at Olde Magoun’s Saloon, they’re celebrating this German holiday all month long. Today, they’re launching their Oktoberfestivities with ceremonial keg-tapping. You’ll be able to quaff these German beers (which they’re serving in proper traditional glassware, natch):

  • Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn and Märzen
  • Hacker-Pschorr
  • Hofbrau
  • Spaten
  • Weihenstephan
  • Ayinger
  • Warsteiner
  • Würzburger Hofbräu
  • Traunstein (which will be switched out for Andechs in October)

Potato pancakes with rustic applesauce, sour cream, and chives.

Reuben Knockwurst
Split knockwurst and ale-braised sauerkraut, with Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing, and warm German potato salad with marble rye.

Paprika Schnitzel
