It’s been three decades since Steve DiFillippo took over Davio’s, the northern Italian steakhouse that’s become Boston’s power-lunch emporium. In that time the charismatic businessman has opened seven outposts, launched a line of frozen dinners, and made regular appearances on the Food Network and QVC. In DiFillippo’s world, nothing is approached without red-carpet showmanship and his signature gusto, which is why on October 21, the restaurateur will celebrate Davio’s 30th anniversary with bubbles, some well-marbled beef, and a slew of local sports stars—including Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck’s classic rock band, which will perform at the event. “I feel like Thomas Jefferson,” DiFillippo says. “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
