Here’s the 2016 Weekday Greenway Food Truck Schedule

The Mobile Eats season continues to grow, with new vendors like Gogi on the Block, Sheherezad, Cupcake City, and more joining the ranks this spring.

The Rose Kennedy Greenway made public green space out of an ugly and uninviting elevated highway more than a decade ago, but it’s not completely closed off to trucks—food trucks are more than welcome.

The Greenway Conservancy announced today that Greenway Mobile Eats returns April 1 with a record 34 vendors rotating through the daily schedule. Now in its seventh season, Greenway Mobile Eats has 24 returning food trucks and 10 newbies.

“The tremendous variety of fresh, distinctive, and locally-sourced food items available at reasonable prices makes Mobile Eats a popular reason to visit the Greenway,” executive director Jesse Brackenbury said via a press release. “We are proud to support the local food entrepreneurs as we welcome them back to the Greenway for another delicious season.”

New additions this year include:

  • Chik Chak (Middle Eastern)
  • Cupcake City (gourmet cupcakes)
  • Gogi on the Block (“Korean Fusion Food Truck — run by an actual Korean dude”)
  • Jamaica Me Hungry (Jamaican)
  • Munch Mobile (elevated street food)
  • Quebrada* (gourmet baked goods)
  • Roving Lunch Box (Savory & Sweet Hand Pies)
  • Sheherezad (Iraqi and Middle Eastern cuisine)
  • Walden Meat Co.* (local, sustainable and humanely raised 100% grass-fed beef burgers)
  • Walloon’s Fried Chicken (Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwiches and Hand-Cut Fries)

Lunchtime (and dessert-for-lunchtime) standbys like like Stoked Pizza, the Cookie Monstah, Bon Me, Tenoch, Zinnekin’s, and other favorites are returning, and the Conservancy, City of Boston, and Greenway community could add vendors as the season goes on. There will be up to 20 trucks and trikes hawking their fare any given day; stay tuned to @HelloGreenway to keep track.

Dewey Square Park Plaza, Dewey Square Park at Congress Street, and Rowes Wharf Plaza at High Street are the main hangs for food trucks on weekdays this spring, but vendors can also be found in Chinatown Park, at the Rings Fountain, near the Greenway Carousel, and at the North End Parks at Hanover Street.

Weekend hours pick up from May 7-mid-October. Every Saturday and on the first and third Sundays, select Mobile Eats vendors will park between State and India Streets at the Greenway Open Market.

The Greenway Spring Food Truck Festival returns again this year, too: On Saturday, April 23 (rain date: April 30), a dozen trucks will line up between Milk and India streets from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for a family-friendly smorgasbord.

Last year, the Mobile Eats program had 30 participating vendors, and it served more than 640,000 guests. The year before, it fed 412,000.

“We are excited about the expansion of the Greenway’s Mobile Eats program, which not only offers residents and visitors alike an array of food options, but also helps support local food entrepreneurs,” said Mayor Marty Walsh via the release.
