Article 24 debuted its New American fare along Western Avenue today, serving up burgers, tacos, and enough cocktails to sate any drinker. The restaurant is the newest addition to the Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s portfolio, which includes Local 149, the Southie spot that hosted an Article 24 pop-up earlier this year, Biltmore & Main in Reading, and the Biltmore Bar & Grille in Newton.

Article 24 is named for the right to rest and leisure, per the United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights, Eater Boston reported. The restaurant seats about 130 in an upstairs area, and 39 on the ground floor, decked out in vintage artwork and 1850s seltzer bottles. A DJ booth is situated in the dining room, which will fuel a series of music-themed brunches the restaurant plans to debut in the coming weeks, including an EDM one.

Leading the kitchen is executive chef Mark Allen, formerly of Le Soir Bistro in Newton Highlands. His menu features staples like loaded burgers, including a hearty turkey patty with brie and mushrooms, and the Biltmore burger, and stacked breakfast plates, like the #Hash, with ham and two fried eggs plus tacos. Other menu items span the globe, with appetizers like steamed dumplings and mushrooms, a variety of thick-cut sourdough toasts (avocado, fried egg, Sriarcha mayo; PB&J), Baja fish or Thai chicken tacos, a spicy chicken ramen bowl, and more.

Cocktails take center stage, thanks to beverage manager Gary Janes, formerly of Temazcal in the Seaport and San Diego tequila bar La Puerta in San Diego. At Article 24, his libations include the gin-based Sage Advice, with sage and elderflower; and Infernal Sunshine, a tequila sipper with habaneros and cucumber. A selection of wines and craft beers are also available. If you’re starting early, Article 24 has few takes on mimosas and boozy coffee cocktails during breakfast.

Article 24 is open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 a.m., and Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 a.m. The restaurant will serve breakfast Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with dinner every night until 11 p.m. There’s a late-night menu with snacks and libations every night ’til 1 a.m.
