Dîner en Blanc, an elegant pop-up party that draws well-dressed-in-white diners in cities like Paris and Washington, D.C., returns to Boston on Saturday, July 30—but exactly where is still a mystery.

For the uninitiated, Dîner en Blanc is an annual event where guests converge at an undisclosed location for dinner and dancing. Guests sign up to attend, then are notified of where to meet the day of the event. Last year, 1,500 people dressed in white converged on City Hall Plaza. Guests must bring their own dinner (and their own table, chairs, and white linens), or pre-order a food basket to pick up at the event.

This year, there’s also an option to upgrade your picnic with help from local chefs. Dîner en Blanc is partnering with Brendan Moy (Best Little Restaurant) and Andy Husbands (The Smoke Shop) to offer food baskets for pre-order. The baskets each feed two, and include dishes like tahini cucumber salad and scallion ginger noodles with soy chicken, or fried chicken with barbecue ranch dipping sauce and butter cake, respectively.

The organizers have also curated three other packages, including a Mediterranean basket filled with items like chickpea falafel, smoked eggplant spread, and baklava; charcuterie, cheeses from Great Hill Dairy and Blythdale Farms, pickled vegetables, and cheesecake pops; and a Brazilian barbecue basket with cilantro chicken, carne asada, salads, and chimichurri.

“Last year, we were amazed by Boston’s spirit, which shone through in elegance, creativity and enthusiasm despite the stormy weather,” co-host Bryer Davis wrote in a press release. “This year, we can’t wait to see an even bigger and more passionate group at our new incredibly picturesque secret venue.”

Registration for Dîner en Blanc opens to the public on Thursday, July 14. The organizers are anticipating close to 2,500 people this year, and they expect it to sell out the same day registration opens.
