Bone Up Brewing Co. Opens August 27

Finally, sip pints of Key Lime white ale and Wasted Life IPA at the newest taproom in Everett's so-called Fermentation District.

If you’ve chatted with Jared and Liz Kiraly during one of their Bone Up Brewing Company tastings recently, or have been keeping up with their blog, you know they’ve been stuck in limbo. Their brewery in Everett has been ready to go for some time, save for a number of inspections and permits needed before they can flip the lights on.

But after weeks of waiting, the brewery announced today it will finally open its taproom to the public on Saturday, August 27.

The husband-and-wife startup announced their brewery late in 2014, and finally released their first batches at a few local bars and liquor stores in June. Those first releases—Key Lime white ale, Extra Naked cream ale, Wasted Life IPA, and Shut Up Kelly! porter—will be on draft at the taproom debut, as well as Bone Smasher session IPA and Warehouse farmhouse ale, in limited quantities. The Kiralys are marking the grand opening with a new release, a hoppy wheat beer called Thrasher. Each of these beers will be available for flights, growler fills, and of course, plenty of pints.

“We are so excited to finally be able to share our taproom with you, and honestly we’re going to be kind of weirded out (in a good way) seeing the place full of people,” the Kiralys wrote in a newsletter.

Bonetown Burgers will be on hand with food to sustain the opening day shenanigans. Bone Up will host other food trucks every weekend in the future, Liz Kiraly previously told Boston.

The taproom seats around 12 people at a wooden bar, with additional standing areas of high-top tables throughout the space that accommodates 45. Bone Up joins the area’s growing Fermentation District, so-called by neighbors Short Path Distilling and Night Shift Brewing (which will debut the Annex, a second taproom and events space, early next month).

Bone Up will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from noon-11 p.m. to start, though the Kiralys plan to extend hours throughout the week later this year.

“Until then, make the most of your remaining summer weekends with us in Everett,” the team writes in their newsletter. “We’ll be rolling out games, events, and lots of new beer releases in the coming weeks, so stay the hell tuned!”
