FoMu Alternative Ice Cream has had a banner summer. The local shop has already opened a third brick-and-mortar, and has also launched pop-up scoop shops in Cambridge and Fenway. Now, it’s giving you another reason to do your back-to-school shopping on Newbury Street: FoMu starts scooping its creamy coconut-based confections at 144 Newbury Street (on the corner of Dartmouth) at 11 a.m. today.

The latest pop-up will run through October 2. Like the two other short-term locations, FoMu Newbury will offer simple cups, cones, and limited toppings, with a rotating selection of some of the more popular flavors, says owner Deena Jalal. It will also have FoMu’s new Taco Tuesday special, a chocolate swirl ice cream-filled cookie “taco” shell, dipped in chocolate and rolled in peanuts. The $8 treat is available (albeit in limited quantities) at all FoMu locations each week.

Fenway fans, your FoMu is sticking around for the fall, too: The Landmark Center pop-up was originally slated to end in September, but it has been extended on a month-to-month basis, potentially through the end of the year, Jalal says.

FoMu, which opened its first café in Allston in 2012, is looking to continue growing its Boston-area footprint. Where will it pop up next?

“Wherever we are graciously asked to!” Jalal says.
